Challenge

As part of an upgrade to their audiovisual systems, the temple required a projection solution that could deliver bright, reliable visuals in both large and ambient-lit spaces. The projection system needed to be flexible enough to support a variety of content types, from static presentation slides to dynamic video used during services. In particular, the temple needed a system capable of functioning effectively even with lights on during ceremonies and gatherings.

Solution

System integrator Levines Lights, a Bay Area-based home automation and AV specialist, installed three Optoma ZK810T projectors, two in the main hall and one upstairs in a secondary space. Chosen for their ultra-bright 4K UHD output, reliability, and ease of setup, these projectors proved to be an ideal match for the temple’s needs. “The quality is really nice. They’re super bright. Even with the lights on, they're still broadcasting fairly brightly,” said Justin Levine, co-founder of Levines Lights. “From a budget perspective, the cost is great for the quality you get. And there are a lot of features built in that make them easy to work with.” The projectors are currently used during Sunday gathering practices and Buddhist scripture study sessions. They also allow temple staff to play videos on a daily basis, related to Buddhist teachings and temple activities for anyone in attendance with clarity and ease.

Achievement

The implementation has led to noticeable improvements in the temple’s presentation capabilities. “We’ve seen measurable benefits, being able to achieve a much smaller projector footprint while still getting output quality similar to larger or more expensive systems,” Levine noted. By combining exceptional brightness, easy operation, and reliable performance, Optoma’s ZK810T projectors have helped the Avatamsaka Buddhist Lotus Society modernize its educational and spiritual presentations while maintaining the peaceful and immersive atmosphere so important to its practice.
